Vision Care for Children & Teens in Brentwood
We provide routine and diagnostic eye exams for children starting at age 5, with a focus on clear vision, visual development, and a calm, supportive exam experience.
When to Schedule a Child’s Eye Exam
We recommend a full eye exam for children by age 5, and a yearly exam thereafter, unless otherwise advised. Some signs of vision issues may be easy to miss, especially if your child hasn’t had a baseline exam before.
Common reasons families schedule with us:
- Squinting, blinking, or eye rubbing
- Complaints of blurry vision or headaches
- Holding books or screens too close
- Trouble focusing in school
- Concerns about eye alignment or tracking
- A family history of myopia or other visual conditions
We work with many Brentwood-area families, including parents from West LA, Pacific Palisades, and the UCLA community, offering exams that are informative and relaxed.
Signs Your Child Might Benefit from Myopia Management
Not all children with myopia need treatment, but if your child’s prescription is increasing each year, we may be able to help slow things down. You might consider a myopia evaluation if:
- Your child squints or complains about distance vision
- They sit close to the screen or hold books too close
- Their glasses prescription has gone up more than once in a short time
- A parent is also nearsighted
- Myopia was diagnosed before age 8
Many families feel reassured just having a plan in place, and we’ll be here to answer questions at every stage.
Myopia Management for Children & Teens
Our Brentwood office offers several safe, proven options for slowing myopia progression. We’ll guide you through the choices based on your child’s age, vision needs, and daily routine.
Orthokeratology (ortho-k): Custom contact lenses worn overnight that gently reshape the cornea so your child can see clearly during the day without glasses or contacts.
MiSight® 1-day lenses: Daily soft contacts designed for children, FDA-approved to slow the progression of myopia.
Low-dose atropine drops: A once-nightly eye drop that may help slow the growth of the eye and stabilize prescription changes.
All of these options are supported by clinical research and widely used in practices like ours that focus on early intervention and long-term outcomes.
Start with a Clearer View of Your Child’s Vision
